Posted: 14 Dec 2009 11:05 AM PST In many circles, the Nissan GT-R is referred to as simply “Godzilla”, and with good reason. Rumor has it that Nissan is considering a hybrid version of the GT-R that will provide better fuel economy without sacrificing performance. Say what? |
New Federal Report: Plug-In Hybrids Won’t Help For Decades Posted: 14 Dec 2009 10:57 AM PST According to an analysis conducted by the National Research Council and partly funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, the roll-out of plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) to the U.S. market will be too slow to have any real effect on our greenhouse gas emissions or oil addiction until at least the 2030s. |
Study Finds Ethanol Use Increases Ozone and Carcinogen Pollution Posted: 14 Dec 2009 10:05 AM PST In a nice reminder of the fact that we can never predict the unintended consequences of even small changes to a complex system, researchers at Stanford University have found that using high blends of ethanol fuel in vehicles will likely increase health problems related to ozone as well as increase the amount of certain cancer-causing chemicals in the air we breathe when compared to the use of gasoline. |
