Antarctic Explorer is Halfway Home!

Posted: 10 Dec 2010 03:08 PM PST

We first reported on the Moon-Reagan Transantarctic Expedition’s E85-powered Antarctic Explorer back in August, when the group announced plans to cross more than 3,600 miles of Antarctic ice in the “pointy, loud, and fast” vehicle shown here.

Since then, the 11-person crew has crossed more than 1800 miles, and – despite numerous breakdowns and mechanical issues plaguing the team’s 2 conventionally-fueled support vehicles – the Bio-Inspired Ice Vehicle’s 100 hp turbocharged Rotax has been humming along, trouble-free at speeds exceeding 80 mph!

You can follow the Moon-Reagan Expedition’s progress on their daily blog … or keep your bookmark bar clutter-free by just checking in here every few days.

Video: Revenge of the Electric Car Trailer

Posted: 10 Dec 2010 11:25 AM PST

“Who Killed the Electric Car” was a documentary following the all-too-brief saga of California’s efforts to force automakers into making electric vehicles. It’s kind of a sad story. Now though, a sequel is in the works, and after reaching 10,000 fans on Facebook, the trailer to “Revenge of the Electric Car” has been released.

“Revenge of the Electric Car” follows four men and their dreams of electric vehicles. There is Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, as well as Bob Lutz, former product developer for GM (and the man behind the Chevy Volt). Then there is Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Nissan-Renault, and “Reverend Gadget,” of Left Coast Electric Conversions.

Ok, enough yammering from me. Watch the video, and let me know what you think!
