Would You Rather: Buy A 2011 Hyundai Elantra or a Fiat 500?

This past week saw a lot of new cars and concepts come out of the Los Angeles car show. In the small car department, both the 2011 Hyundai Elantra, and the Fiat 500  were introduced to America. The Elantra is rated at 40 mpg, as should the Fiat 500 when it hits showrooms next year.

The 2011 Hyundai Elantra is priced at $14,145, a real bargain considering all the standard features, such as CD/MPG player six air bags, and the most powerful standard engine in its class, a 148 horsepower 1.8 liter four-banger. The Fiat 500 is pretty well loaded too, including air conditioning, cruise control, CD/MPG radio, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes and seven airbags of its own. The Fiat 500 comes in at $15,500.

Both cars have a plethora of options available, and should hit showrooms at the same time. Given the option, which would you rather buy?
